Save the Veggies!

Did you know:

*Every year, millions of tons of fruits and vegetables are brutally slaughtered in the US for human consumption alone. They are cut off from their life giving stems only to be put on display by the hundreds on grocery shelfs.

*Plants on today's farms have no legal protection from destruction that would be illegal if it were inflicted on pine trees or firs: bruising, hacking, genetic alteration, and all kinds of chemicals that cause defoliation and wilting, and utterly horrific and shocking uprootings and cutting.

*Carrots, beets, tomatoes, turnips, onions, lettuce, corn and other vegetables are grown tightly packed together, in straight, unwavering rows, and in filthy horticulturing rooms, often with no room to let their roots spread out or sink deeply in the soil because they are packed in so tightly with the rest of their organic brethren. They are deprived of their freedom and closely monitored to make sure that all their energy is spent on producing the colorful array that is mindlessly eaten by the masses of humanity.

*They are fed chemical fertilizers to make them grow faster and keep them alive longer than they ever would in natural soil, and they are genetically manipulated to grow faster or to produce bigger "product" or more of it than they ever would naturally. They are sprinkled constantly with particles of herbicides and pesticides to the point where it is openly visible on their tender leaves. Many plants wilt under their own weight in the soil that the industry calls "organic".

Please, help save them.
